"Remember brothers that we are Space Marines, we can't fall, we can't falter because that isn't our duty, our true duty it is to fight for the Imperium for the Emperor and for the Chapter. !!Then go on brothers take the holy sign of our Chapter to glory and victory!!."
—Benehedan Deadust, former Captain of the 3th Company

The Signum Knights are a loyalist Space Marine Chapter, located on the far northeast of Segmentum Ultima. They act as watchers of the Ghouls Stars. Securing the Imperial border next to Segmentum Ultima.

The Space Marines on this chapter believes that the only way to victory it is through great faith and the strict ways of the Codex Astartes.

Many Astartes from this chapter had taken their services to the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Xenos known as the Deathwatch. Primarily due to the belief of the Signum Knights of "Suffer Not the Alien to Live"

Chapter history[]

Founding[]

The Signum Knights Chapter was founded during the early 37 millenium, due to the request of both the Ultramarines and Novamarines to the High Lords of Terra for the purpose of securing the border next to the Ghouls Stars.

Being approved their request, it began the creation of this chapter, many of the first officers of the newly requested chapter comes from both the Ultramarines and their Second Founding Successors, the Novamarines.

One of the many reasons the Signum Knights had been created to secure the Lumineous Sector, was because of a strange Xeno's presence coming from the Vexillumian System.

Recent history[]

It is known that the Signum Knights just like any other Loyalist Chapter had fought on the Third War for Armageddon, sending almost their entire chapter on a strike force of 7 Companies.

Sadly this conflict as most it scarred the other Imperial forces, it also ravaged the Signum Knights as they lost 3 Companies, afterwards of the battle and the beginning of both the Ultima Founding and Indomitus Crusade, the Signum Knights were one of the many Chapters to receive Primaris reinforcements.

Known campaigns[]

  • 98.M37 - Waaagh! Skarrygitz. On the Ghalan Subsector located in Segmentum Ultima, the Ork Warboss Skarrygitz, began his conquest. Thanks to the efforts of both the local PDF and the Force of three Companies led by the Force Commander Arraiax they crushed it under their boot
  • 148.M37 - The Foul Summoning. Deployed to perform a great purge on the Planet of Hagharm III they found a Heretic cult who were just about to summon a Daemon Prince by the name of Khanzzgr. The 1st Company was successful on banishing the Daemon and his dark followers, yet at the cost of the Epistolary Lanceus who banished Khanzzgr along with him.
  • 205.M37- Space Hulk Black Judges. This particular Space Hulk traveled close to the route of Segmentum Ultima and Segmentum Tempestus, mysteriously this wreckage came close to the Vexillumian system the same star System that this Space Marines must guard. The Signum Knights sent the Terminators Veterans, discovering both mutants cults and Orks both preparing for a invasion.
  • 449.M37- Assault Of Crekibs. Remembered as the first major defeat of the Signum Knights on their history, faced against the Alpha Legion on the Sector Crekibs located in Segmentum Obscurus there could be little what the Signum Knights could do against the deceptive and guerrila tactics of the traitorous Space Marines. The records explain the death of the 3th Company Captain Benehedan Deadust, since he died after a infiltrated Alpha Legion Space Marine backstabbed him.
  • 642.M39- Defense of Sector Lumineous. This confrontation between the entire Signum Knights chapter and the Waaagh! led by Bad Moon Ork Warboss Bigtoof, it first initiated when Bigtoof coming from nowhere from a neighbour system landed his Rok on the chapter recruiting Feral World of Ulmana. Alerting the Signum Knights and sending their counter attack, at first the Orks first nearly conquered the Worlds of Ulmana and Octune but soon it fell on disorder when the first Chapter Master Gremaldus Blanterro beheaded the Ork Warboss Bigtoof. Now most of Ulmana's southern coast have been infested with Feral Orks.
  • 868.M40- Lexinan Corruption. As far as the Imperial Records could say about this campaign of the Signum Knights it is quite disturbing, many files have been erased or redacted about the existence of a Sector named Lexinan located on Segmentum Obscurus. The Captain of the 2th Company Torbjias was the one behind the campaign on this cursed planet on the brink of rebellion led by the Chaos Lord Azkhyk. The Signum Knights suffered great losses but managed to destroy the Khornate Space Marine forces, the Ordo Hereticus of the Holy Inquisition declared Exterminatus after revealing that the Planetary Governor surrendered the entire Sector to the traitorous Astartes. Truly a dark taint on the chapter's history

Combat doctrine[]

The Signum Marines being an Codex-Compliant Chapter, prefer the dictates of the Codex Astartes for more versability on combat. The chapter has also taken great pride on close combat and so are extensively instructed on various forms of hand to hand combat and many other weapons such as chainswords, while the Tactical Marines employ the use of Flamers and the Terminators Heavy Flamers.

One peculiar aspect of the Signum Marines combat doctrine is the fact the chaplain's arts are spread well beyond the reclusiam in this chapter, and it's brothers inspire those they fight alongside with their stirring rhetoric abilities.

Unit types[]

Tactical Marines[]

The Tactical Marines serves the same purpose on most Codex-Compliant Chapters, despite of that they are more adepts on melee combat. So they can deal more striking blows on the enemy when they are cornered.

Assault Marines[]

Unlike other chapters, the Assault Marines serves a great purpose just like the Tactical Marines. Due to the close quarters doctrine of the Signum Knights, they deployed them as shock-troopers on the field due to their combat speciality. Although they are still mostly on the 8th Company and as a reserve.

Devastator Marines []

The Devastator Marines and their long range weaponry aren't the Signum Marines speciality, yet they deployed them along with the Tactical Marines as they would defend them.

Terminator Marines[]

The Terminator Marines from the Signum Knights have the same equipment and organization as a Codex-Compliant chapter, but the Assault Terminators are more common on the chapter.

Dreadnoughts[]

The Dreadnoughts of this chapter serves just like any other. Yet the Signum Knights take great honour and pride on their fallen brothers and consider the Dreadnoughts as a second chance to serve the Emperor, in combat they are involved on support and siege operations and in the rites the Dreadnoughts put themselves different types of spiritual items.

Equipment and tactics[]

Due to its lineage of the Ultramarines, this Chapter uses the same patterns of their progenitors, thanks to the Novamarines who had trained the firstborn members of the Chapter they had also burrowed the same patterns.

As the Chapter is proficient in close combat, almost every Astartes in this Chapter uses combat knifes and chainswords along with Bolt Pistols, while the Tactical Marines make use of regular Bolters, some veterans have been known for their use of Combi-Flamers as is effective on close combat.

The most common tactic that the Signum Knights employ is sending a first wave of Assault Marines ready to destroy the enemy's heavy emplacement (if there is one) followed by Siege and standard Dreadnoughts ready to employ heavy close combat support. Later on Rhinos are deployed filled with Tacticals and Devastators Marines. The Scouts on the Chapter later on uses Flamers and scoping rifle to eliminate the commanders. This is effective against Xenos such as the Orks.

Accitus Pattern Chainsword[]

An variation of the Assault Chainsword, the Signum Marines make use of this Pattern mainly for both the destructive nature and light-weight of this weapon.

Chapter culture[]

The Astartes of this Chapter take with great heart the elaboration of banners and other distinctive imperial iconry. Such as the Chaplain's influence of the Chapter in which the Space Marines dress themselves on spiritual items like Phaleraes and others similar to rosary beads.

Notable members[]

Chapter Master Talbaen Dimintro[]

The current and second Chapter master after the death of Gremaldus Blanterro at the hands of an Eldar Harlequin who poisoned him during the beginning of the 41st millenium. Talbaen Dimintro before his rise as the Chapter Master of the Signum Knights was also the 1st Company of Veterans Captain, having fought along his side, Gremaldus always thought of Talbaen as his future successor and a disciple. Talbaen Dimintro has earned his name as ''Bane of Xenos'' thanks to a succesfull campaign involving a purge of an nowadays unknown Xenos Species.

Prior to the Primarch Roboute Guilliman's resurrection, Talbaen Dimintro and many of his brothers made a pilgrimage to Macragge, to paid honour to Guilliman's corpse on stasis.

Talbaen Dimintro wields a Power Maul by the name of Holycrusher, although he sometimes uses a pair of Lightning Claws.

4h Company Captain Nemelus[]

"He is arrogant, proud and stubborn but he has prove himself as a true son of Guilliman and i respect him for that. Showing his brothers what it takes to be a Space Marine."
—5th Company Sergeant Jauliu

Nemelus has served for over five centuries as a Captain for the 4th Company. Descending from a family of Hive Gangers on the Hive World of Tharnatia, he has fought many battles and prove his abilities as Master of the Fleet after destroying an Ork Fleet which involved a Rok during the Defense of Sector Lumineous.

Thanks to his years of services on the Chapter he now possess on his hands the ancient Power Sword of the 2nd Company Captain Torbjias.
