The men and women of the Hallowed Legions are drawn from four celestial bodies in the Alerian System. Aleria Prime, a cardinal world and the greatest symbol of imperial majesty in its immediate vicinity, is the main recruiting ground for the legions. Aleria Prime's moon, Aleria Secundus, and Aleria IV and V also have suitable populations from which troops can be drawn in their millions.

Aleria Prime is a heavily urbanised cardinal world that sits as a jewel of imperial might and beauty within a sea of darkness. Its seas have long since been drained for industrial purposes, shipped to other worlds or shifted to vast underground storage chambers that directly supply the hive cities with drinking water. Each drop of water an Alerian drinks will have been recycled millions of times across the planet's long history.
